Frequently asked questions

Quick answers before you ship a proposal to a client—from trying the Free for drafting and light export; Pro for sending, tracking, and closing with share links and client sign-off.

Getting started

First draft in the browser—accounts, AI generation, Free limits, and local vs cloud saves.

  • Do I need an account?
No. You can run the full flow in the browser: fill the form, generate, edit sections, and export (with Free plan limits). Sign in to save proposals to your cloud library and sync across devices.
  • How does AI generation work?
When you generate a proposal, we send your brief to the AI model to produce a structured first draft—scope, pricing tiers, timeline, contract language, and outreach copy. You stay in control: edit anything in the editor or rewrite individual sections without regenerating the whole document. We don’t compete on “smarter chat”—see Compare vs ChatGPT Plus for workflow and delivery.
  • How is this different from ChatGPT Plus?
ChatGPT Plus helps you think; Scopewise helps you send something a client can accept. ChatGPT Plus is the right tool when you want one AI for everything. Scopewise is for agencies and freelancers who send several client proposals a month and need structure, exports, share links, and tracking—not another PDF in email. Full comparison.
  • What are the Free vs Pro limits?
On Free you get 5 full AI proposals, 12 section rewrites, 20 company research analyses, and 3 exports per month (watermarked). Pro raises that to 45 full proposals, 200 section rewrites, 150 company research analyses, and 100 unwatermarked exports, and unlocks the client portal. See pricing for the latest caps.
  • What's saved on this device vs in the cloud?
Without an account, history, templates, usage counters, and export preferences live in your browser on this device—clearing site data removes them. When you sign in, proposals you save go to your cloud library. Share-link snapshots are stored separately so clients can open the hosted page. Privacy & data has more detail.
  • Can I rewrite a single section?
Yes. After the first draft, use section rewrites to tighten scope, pricing, timeline, or other blocks without regenerating the entire proposal. Each rewrite counts toward your monthly section-rewrite limit on Free or Pro.
  • How do templates and the library work?
Finished proposals can be saved to your library and reused as templates—structure and language carry over; you update the client details for the next engagement. On Free, library data is local to your browser until you sign in for cloud saves.

Pro & delivery

Send client links, track opens, collect sign-off, and publish revisions on the same URL.

  • What does Pro include?
Pro unlocks the client delivery workflow: share links (optional PIN), a hosted client portal, comments with owner replies, client sign-off with email audit trail, view and download tracking, revision publishing with change summaries, automated nudge emails, unwatermarked exports, and higher monthly AI limits. Compare vs ChatGPT Plus for workflow; pricing has current caps.
  • How do share links work?
On Pro, create a share link from the proposal editor. Your client opens a polished read-only page—they can comment, download PDF/DOCX, and accept. You manage the thread, track opens and downloads, publish revisions on the same link, send follow-ups, and renew expired links from your Library client pipeline.
  • How long do share links stay active?
Share links expire after 7 days by default. On Pro you can pick a different window when you create the link (presets from 1–90 days, or a custom date up to about 180 days), and you can extend or shorten it from the owner portal while the link is still live. When it expires, clients see an expired page—not your proposal. That only affects the shared snapshot; your library copy stays intact. To reactivate the same URL, open your Library client pipeline, switch to Archive, and choose Renew link—you can set a fresh expiry then without regenerating the proposal.
  • What does an optional PIN do?
A PIN is a simple access gate on the share URL—clients enter it before viewing the proposal. It keeps casual visitors out but is not enterprise-grade security; avoid highly sensitive content in shared links.
  • Is client sign-off legally binding?
No. Client sign-off is a lightweight record of agreement to proceed: the client types their name and email, and both of you get confirmation emails for an audit trail. A fast yes with an audit trail in email—not a replacement for counsel, DocuSign, or procurement-grade e-sign. Freelancers and agencies on trust-based closes—typically deals under ~$500k where you need a clear go-ahead, not a legal war room. Legal, procurement, or enterprise buyers who need DocuSign, clause negotiation, or payment capture—use your e-sign and billing stack for that. Privacy & data explains what we store.

Exports

PDF and DOCX from the editor—watermarks on Free, clean files on Pro.

  • Why are Free exports watermarked?
Free-plan PDF and DOCX exports include a small footer watermark so you can try the full export flow before upgrading. Pro removes the watermark and raises your monthly export cap.
  • Do PDF and DOCX match what I see in the editor?
Yes. Exports are generated from the same content you edit in the builder—the layout and sections you see are what goes into the file. Upload a logo file if you want it embedded reliably in PDF output.

Branding

Upload logos and keep client-facing PDFs consistent with your identity.

  • Why upload a logo file?
We embed the image file directly in the PDF, so it always prints even if you're offline or the original hosting link changes.

Billing & plans

Free vs Pro caps, metered overage, Team waitlist, and canceling through Stripe.

  • What happens if I exceed monthly limits?
Free: the app hard-stops when you hit caps (5 full proposals, 12 section rewrites, 20 company research analyses, 3 exports per month). Usage resets at the start of your next billing period. Pro (default): same hard caps at 45 proposals, 200 rewrites, 150 company research analyses, and 100 exports—exports never bill as overage. Pro (auto-metered, when enabled): opt in at checkout or enable later from billing settings. Full proposals and/or section rewrites can then continue past the included tier; we report usage to Stripe and you are billed per unit on your subscription (rates shown on pricing and in Stripe Checkout). The builder warns you at 80% of any capped limit and links to the billing portal on Pro.
  • Can my small team use Pro until Team launches?
Pro is built for solo operators and small teams sharing one login today. A three-person shop can run on Pro in the meantime—same account, shared library and brand in practice. Team adds multiple seats, shared templates, and pooled brand defaults on one subscription. Pro does not include per-seat billing yet. We have not announced a launch date. Join the waitlist if you want early access when Team enters beta—we will email you; no charge until Team ships. See Pro pricing or join the Team waitlist on pricing—we have not announced a launch date.
  • Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Pro is billed through Stripe and you can cancel from the billing portal—no long-term lock-in. You keep access through the end of the current billing period. See pricing.
  • How do I delete my account and data?
Open Account & data from the user menu (or the billing panel in the library) and confirm deletion. That immediately cancels an active Pro subscription, removes your cloud library, templates, branding, share links, usage records, and team workspaces you own, and deletes your sign-in profile. Browser drafts on this device are cleared at the same time. Unused paid time is not automatically refunded. Privacy & data has more detail.
  • Where are the terms and privacy notice?
See Privacy & data for how AI prompts, share links, sign-in, and billing work, and Terms of service for acceptable use, paid plans, and limits on AI drafts and client sign-off.
  • What happens to share links if I cancel or downgrade?
Links you already sent keep working until their expiry date (7 days by default). You won't be able to create new Pro share links or use unwatermarked exports while on Free. Saved proposals stay in your library; you can open a new share link after upgrading again.
